70 per cent of Bahrain's eligible population vaccinated, says top medic

Bahrain has administered Covid-19 vaccines to 70 per cent of its eligible population, Health Ministry Under-Secretary Dr Waleed Al Manea said.

He detailed all the statistics related to the virus adding that these numbers, and other achievements were the result of the hard work of Team Bahrain and its belief that the health and safety of everyone is a top priority.

He thanked “every conscious individual” whose commitment to precautionary measures contributed to preserving the health and safety of all.

“The achievements that we are proud of today are the result of the solidarity and co-operation of all,” he added.

Bahrain has been and remains one of the first countries that have taken proactive steps and successful initiatives in support of international efforts to address the pandemic, Bahrain WHO representative and office head Dr Tasnim Atatrah said.

“WHO has been closely monitoring and evaluating the response of member states to the coronavirus pandemic,” she said.

“In Bahrain, a comprehensive package of precautionary and preventive measures was applied to combat the transmission of the virus even before the first case was discovered, which had positive repercussions.”
