382 requests for financial support from large businesses

A total of 382 requests for financial support from the Liquidity Fund to offset the impacts of Covid-19 have been approved.

Finance and National Economy Minister Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa said in today’s Parliament session that 48pc of the businesses have received support in association with banks.

"Banks have spent BD34m so far with the expected total for the entire requests being BD86m when payments are arranged over the next few months,” he said.

The fund's finances have been doubled from BD100m to BD200m under the BD4.3 billion financial stimulus package to help the economy amid the coronavirus outbreak.
