16 new hotels to open in Bahrain by 2026
The Minister of Tourism, Fatima Al Sairafi, participated in a discussion panel at Gateway Gulf 2024 forum, organised by the Bahrain Economic Development Board, where she highlighted the successful attraction of a diverse selection of world-renowned hotels set to open in Bahrain from 2024 to 2026. This expansion will add over 3,000 new hotel rooms, further strengthening Bahrain's position as a leading regional tourism hub.
This expansion reflects Bahrain's growing positioning as a premier, diverse tourism destination capable of meeting the needs of a wide variety of travellers, due to Bahrain's favourable business environment, investment-friendly incentives, and supportive measures that have attracted prestigious hotel projects aligned with global standards, she added. This development is in line with Bahrain’s comprehensive development process and goals under the leadership of HM the King and the ongoing support of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Al Sairafi underscored Bahrain’s commitment to continue enhancing its tourism appeal by diversifying the hotels landscape, which enriches Bahrain’s tourism product by offering varied options for families, individuals, groups, and business travellers alike. These hotels cater to every preference, from luxury and comfort to cultural and heritage experiences, as well as accommodations for adventure seekers and beach enthusiasts. This diversity also supports business tourism and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions), positioning Bahrain as an ideal destination for both business and leisure events.
Between 2024 and 2026, 16 hotels will be established in Bahrain. In 2024 alone, Bahrain welcomed several new four-star and five-star hotels to the tourism sector. By 2026, the Kingdom is set to welcome an additional 12 hotels. These expansions are expected to bolster the tourism, hospitality, and hotel sectors, increase tourism revenues, create new job opportunities in hospitality, and support small and medium enterprises through partnerships with local suppliers and contractors. These projects will also improve Bahrain’s tourism infrastructure, services, and facilities to meet rising visitor demand, particularly in alignment with Bahrain’s hosting of major international events and conferences.
Al Sairafi noted that this expansion in the hospitality sector is a testament to BTEA’s ongoing efforts, in close partnership with the private sector, to enrich Bahrain’s tourism landscape, enhance facilities, and elevate visitor experiences. Tourism is a key pillar of growth under Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and remains one of the most promising sectors with a positive impact on the GDP, to cement Bahrain’s positioning as a globally leading tourism destination in the region, combining authentic Arabian hospitality, a rich cultural heritage, and modern entertainment experiences, making each visit to Bahrain an unforgettable journey.
