$10bn investment deals signed at conference
The 10th Arab-China Business Conference, the largest edition to date and the first hosted by Saudi Arabia, marked its first day with the signing of $10 billion in investment agreements.
The agreements spanned more than 30 deals across an array of sectors including technology, renewables, agriculture, real estate, minerals, supply chains, tourism and healthcare.
Themed ‘Collaborating for Prosperity’, the two-day conference is being held in Riyadh under the patronage of Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan praised the Arab world’s trade and economic partnership with China, while underscoring the importance of this relation and the mutual desire to boost it.
Industry and Commerce Minister Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro led Bahrain’s delegation.
On the sidelines of the conference, he praised the aspirations and strategic steps led by Saudi Arabia. This reflects the great interest in opening new horizons of closer trade and economic co-operation between the Arab world and China, he said.
Senior officials present at the conference included Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit; vice chairman of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Hu Chunhua and United Nations World Tourism Organisation secretary general Zurab Pololikashvili.
