WE ARE READY FOR ACTION: Cabinet discusses steps required to start implementing four-year roadmap

THE Cabinet yesterday discussed the steps required to immediately start implementing a four-year roadmap for the country’s development.
The Cabinet’s move is in line with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
This will be carried out through the development of government projects and services provided to citizens, ongoing tracking of related work plans, and submission of periodic progress reports to the Cabinet, it was declared at the session, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday.
Parliament last week, for the first time in its history, unanimously approved the Government Action Plan, with all 40 MPs backing the roadmap.
The move paved the way for the government to commence work on major strategies, projects, schemes and initiatives earmarked from 2023 to 2026, as reported in the GDN.
The Cabinet commended the unanimous approval of the programme, themed ‘From Economic Recovery to Sustainable Growth’, affirming that close co-operation with Parliament contributed to achieving consensus.
It noted the commitment of the parliamentary committee in charge of studying the programme, in co-operating with the government committee, supporting ongoing co-ordination between the executive and legislative authorities, for the benefit of the country and its citizens.
The session also extended its gratitude to the government committee for its participation in the meetings, and for its efforts in this regard.
The Cabinet directed the government agencies concerned to follow up on the observations and recommendations included in the 2021-2022 National Audit Office Report, and to take the necessary measures to rectify them.
It extended its gratitude to all the ministries and government agencies that took the initiative to rectify the observations in the previous report, and noted the role played by the audit office in strengthening governance to incorporate effective practices.
The Cabinet also highlighted Bahrain International Airport’s success in attaining the five-star Regional Airport Rating certification for outstanding airport services and facilities by Skytrax, for the second year in a row. The GDN was the first to report this achievement.
Ministers stressed the importance of continuing to develop airport services and sustain national achievements and developments.
The Cabinet discussed several memorandums during the meeting and approved one by the Civil Service Bureau regarding the restructuring of a number of ministries and government agencies to improve performance and efficiency.
