Strategic investments in spotlight at forum

MANAMA: The spotlight was firmly on strategic investments and investors’ education at the Mena Angel Investors Summit 2018 yesterday.

The day-long event at The Ritz-Carlton Bahrain was organised by Tenmou, Bahrain’s first angel investment firm, in partnership with Tamkeen, with the support of Alba, Bahrain Development Bank (BDB) and Rowad as event partners.

A panel of experts including BDB Group chief executive Sanjeev Paul, Economic Development Board chief economic adviser Dr Jarmo Kotilaine, Tenmou chief executive Nawaf Al Kooheji, MAGNiTT founder and chief executive Philip Bahoshy, VentureSouq founding partner Sonia Weymuller and Roland Berger Middle East managing partner Kushal Shah among others, discussed the importance of the role that angel investors play to ensure better business performance through knowledge sharing, implementing best industry practices and sharing experience relevant to the start-up ecosystem.

The summit also marked the official opening of Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) globally, with Joanthan Ortmans, the president of Global Entrepreneurship Network inaugurating the event with an opening speech that referred to the four themes for this year’s GEW 2018 celebration, recognising women, youth and inclusion in entrepreneurship, as well as connecting ecosystems around the world.
