New initiative to help young expand entrepreneurial skills

MANAMA: The fourth Manama Entrepreneurship Week includes 15 workshops and specialised discussion panels led by 30 speakers from a number of countries including Bahrain, the US, Australia, Hong Kong, Germany, France and Turkey, it has emerged.

Expressing satisfaction with the growing impact of the annual event, Capital Governor Shaikh Hisham bin Abdulrahman Al Khalifa affirmed the keenness of the Capital Governorate to maintain all necessary support for the success of the event.

He was speaking during the opening of the week-long activity at the Four Seasons Hotel Bahrain Bay yesterday.

“This event comes within the framework of supporting the governorate’s efforts to enable and expand the capabilities of Bahraini youth to compete on the international entrepreneurial sphere, transforming young people from job seekers to job creators who build and support sustainable and transparent enterprises,” said Shaikh Hisham.

This year’s event is inspired by the vision of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister.

His message during the AWS Summit Bahrain was fruitful. “We will harness technology to support entrepreneurship and encourage creativity and more economic diversification.”

The Capital Governor said the Crown Prince has motivated us to develop entrepreneurship sectors such as financial technology, business future, market changes and creativity moving from knowledge economy to digital economy.

“Our wise leadership has given special attention to the youth and allocated many programmes and projects that are targeted towards enabling and advancing their capabilities.”

Offering advice to young entrepreneurs, Shaikh Hisham said, borrowing from a saying by Tesla chief executive Elon Musk, ‘If you’re trying to create a company it’s like baking a cake. You should have all the ingredients in the right proportion’. “I would say the people must follow what they love. This makes them much happier and creative in entrepreneurship.”
