Explain VAT call

MANAMA: Bahrain's new Value Added Tax (VAT) must be explained to businesses and the public thoroughly before its implementation on January 1, Finance Minister Shaikh Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa has stressed.

He underlined the need to take the required time to ensure that the implementation of the scheme is clear to everyone.

In a statement yesterday, the minister also said the Fiscal Balance Programme and its impact on economic growth should be clarified to various government sectors and organisations.

Bahrain expects to generate revenues worth BD600 million in 2019 from the tax, which has been approved by parliament and the Shura Council in line with a GCC agreement.
