Edamah appoints two companies to develop Bilaj Al Jazayer

MANAMA: Bahrain Real Estate Investment Company (Edamah), the real estate arm of Mumtalakat, has awarded contracts to Al Hassanain Company and Nass Contracting for modifying and enhancing the beach for the first phase of Bilaj Al Jazayer, located on the west coast.

The project has an investment value of BD3 million and will be completed by third quarter of 2019.

Al Hassanain Company will modify and rehabilitate the current beach making it suitable for swimming, whereas Nass Contracting will supply the required rocks for the beach improvement works.

The two agreements were signed during the Bahrain International Property Exhibition (Bipex 2018), where Edamah is taking part as a signature sponsor.

The first phase of the Bilaj Al Jazayer project comprises improvements to approximately 1km of unrestricted vacant beachfront to be later enhanced by a landscape promenade, food and beverage outlets, and supporting beach amenities.

The second phase of the project will include building a four-star hotel situated on the coast to serve the visitors who wish to spend more time at a seaside resort.

Bilaj Al Jazayer will serve as a prime destination for leisure and entertainment where the coast will be open to tourists and locals alike.

Edamah chief executive Amin Alarrayed said, “The company’s vision is to transform the Bilaj Al Jazayer beach into a world-class destination catering to Bahraini families, GCC nationals and tourists.

“These improvements will subsequently create attractive opportunities for investors.

According to him, the project is in line with Vision 2030, that calls for financially sustainable developments that enhance the national economy and achieve social well-being, while preserving public waterfront spaces and create sustainable tourism.

Edamah manages a portfolio of real estate assets worth BD190m and is currently working on several developments while exploring real estate initiatives in the hospitality and retail sector.

The projects include The Terminal complex, which was launched last year in Adliya, and a mixed-use waterfront project, Sa’ada, being developed in Muharraq.
