CBB receives 65 insurance complaints

MANAMA: The Central Bank of Bahrain (CBB) received 65 complaints related to insurance companies this year and 170 last year compared with 169 complaints in 2017 and 393 in 2016.

CBB executive director of financial institutions supervision Abdul Rahman Al Baker revealed the figures as he chaired the CBB’s periodic meeting with Bahrain-based insurance companies’ officials yesterday.

The meeting reviewed repeated customer complaints about car insurance services provided by these companies and urged them to comply with CBB regulations in terms of handling complaints and speeding up claim settlement procedures.

The unified comprehensive motor insurance contract to be issued in co-operation with Bahrain Insurance Association (BIA) soon was also discussed.

The CBB also stressed the need to introduce new insurance services in line with latest technology trends in order to reduce paper transactions and improve service quality.
