Bahrain’s virus battle praised

Manama: His Majesty King Hamad yesterday praised steps taken by Bahrain to prevent the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.

He was speaking when he received at Safriya Palace Parliament speaker Fouzia Zainal and Shura Council chairman Ali Saleh Al Saleh.

He discussed with them the current health condition and the requirements of the forthcoming phase.

He underlined the importance of concerted efforts to serve the nation and citizens and highlighted national achievements in combating the coronavirus.

His Majesty thanked the Parliament speaker and Shura Council chairman as well as MPs and council members for support for the government’s evacuation plan of Bahraini nationals abroad.

He pledged to spare no effort to bring back Bahrainis stranded abroad.

The King praised constructive co-operation of the National Assembly with the executive branch, as part of the efforts of the National Taskforce to Combat Covid-19.

The King commended efforts by the government, spearheaded by His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and praised the tireless work of the Bahrain taskforce under the

leadership of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.

He also underlined the humanitarian efforts of medical teams in Bahrain who are fulfilling their missions competently, professionally and courageously in these exceptional circumstances.

He thanked people for complying with the preventive health measures which shows awareness, civilisation and determination to overcome the crisis.

Health condition in the country is assuring and Bahrain will continue to boost precautionary measures to ensure the safety of all people, he said.

Ms Zainal and Mr Al Saleh paid tribute to His Majesty for his support and keenness to serve citizens to relieve the impact of the current crisis on their life.

They pointed out decisions taken to immunise the national economy and back the private sector by launching a financial and development package to ensure sustainability of this vital sector.

They said that their meeting with the King cast light on Bahrain’s ability to overcome challenges, including the current ones with the outbreak of Covid-19 in many countries.
