Bahrain ‘strategic gateway to regional and global markets’
The Industry and Commerce Minister yesterday highlighted Bahrain’s strategic location in the heart of the Arabian Gulf as a gateway to regional and global markets.
Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro also pointed to the efforts made to invest in modern infrastructure and further simplify regulatory processes, which consolidate the kingdom’s position as a leading global logistics hub.
Mr Fakhro made the remarks during his address at a dialogue session on ‘Geopolitical Trends and the Impact of Geopolitics on Business’ on the sidelines of the 20th edition of the Manama Dialogue 2024. Several public and private sector policymakers from various countries around the world attended.
He also addressed the pivotal role of the energy sector as a fundamental pillar of economies affected by geopolitical dynamics, with reference to the global shift towards sustainable energy solutions and Bahrain’s investments in clean energy initiatives.
Economic and Strategic Geopolitics director at the International Institute for Strategic Studies Robert Ward moderated the session, which covered a number of key subjects related to the interconnectedness between geopolitics and economics. The importance of understanding the interaction between them to ensure business growth and sustainability was also highlighted, with a focus on the role of supply chains and the significance of governments in providing a flexible environment that enhances companies’ ability to guarantee growth and sustainability.
The session concluded with a discussion on a number of geo-economic and geopolitical issues that have a direct impact on business, enhancing a deeper understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the global economy in light of these transformations.
