Bahrain exports surge 16pc

MANAMA: The value of imports in Bahrain reached BD448 million during April, a decreased of 12 per cent compared with BD507m for the same period last year.

This was revealed in the Foreign Trade Report issued by the Information and eGovernment Authority (iGA).

The top 10 countries account for 69pc of the imports value and 31pc for other countries.

According to the report, China was the top country that exports to Bahrain with BD57m; Brazil second with BD44m whereas the UAE ranked third with BD34m.

Non-Agglomerated iron ores and concentrates emerged as the top product imported to Bahrain with BD48m, while the aluminum oxide as the second with BD27m. Four-wheel drive cars ranked third with BD20m during April 2019.

Additionally, the value of the exported national origin products increased by 16pc as it reached BD204m versus BD176m for the previous year. The top 10 countries account for 82pc of the exported national origin value and 18pc for other countries.

Saudi Arabia was ranked as the first country importing from Bahrain with BD57m, the UAE second with BD28m and the US comes third with BD27m.

As for national exported products, agglomerated iron ores and concentrates emerged as the top products exported in April with BD41m; unwrought aluminium alloys were positioned second with a value of BD19m and aluminium wire third with BD13m.

The value of re-exports increased by 47pc as it reached BD66m during April versus BD45m the previous year. The top 10 countries account for 91pc of the re-exported value and 9pc for other countries. Saudi Arabia was ranked the first country with BD19m, the UAE second with BD18m and China third with BD7m.

Four-wheel drive cars emerged as the top products re-exported from Bahrain with BD11m, parts for gas turbines came as second with BD10m, and agglomerated iron ores and concentrates third with BD8m.

The trade balance deficit reached BD178m during April 2019 versus BD286m for the same month of the previous year, a decrease of 38pc.
