22pc jump in e-services use

PUBLIC use of electronic government services has increased by 22pc in the last year.

Deputy Premier Shaikh Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Khalifa told MPs in writing yesterday that traffic onBahrain.bh jumped from 1.3 million provided services in 2018 to 1.6m last year.

He added that the revenues from such services have increased by 29pc from BD120m in 2018 to BD165m last year.

“We have a strategy to digitalise government services from this year to 2022 as we reduce operational costs, enhance efficiency and fair spending and distribution of direct payments, ease procedures and get more non-oil revenues,” said Shaikh Mohammed. “We have more than 400 electronic services on the portal with an average 40 new added yearly.”

MPs will be notified about Shaikh Mohammed’s response during today’s session.
