Manama: Progress of work on multi-billion-dollar development projects yesterday topped the weekly Cabinet meeting.
His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa chaired the session, in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
The panel followed up the progress of projects incorporated in the Government Action Plan. These include $10bn state-funded projects and $15bn schemes financed by the private sector.
Overall investments allocated for urban, tourism and industrial projects top $32.5bn – including the $7.5bn schemes financed under the Gulf Development Programme.
Seventy-three per cent of work has been completed on 757 projects financed under the multi-billion-dollar package.
The session also focused on 410 projects dubbed “important at national level”. Work on 223 of them has reached 54pc, the Cabinet heard.
Meanwhile, 179 projects under the same category are underway, making up 43pc of the overall number, and 108 others are expected to be completed in the current state budget.
A total of 347 administrative projects are underway, according to a memo submitted by the Cabinet Affairs Minister. He said that not more than 2pc of projects have been delayed.
